Leaving behind noisy McCausland, we head down Plateau Avenue, past the parking lot on the north for Olympia. There is a row of unique four-family apartment buildings, and then there are some interesting single family houses.

This house has an interesting secret under its siding.

It is actually a brick house, as this photograph reveals!

Isaac Sievers, Renovated house after Scarlet Fever Quarantine, 6928 Plateau Ave, June 18, 1931, Rights Holders: Logan Long Realty Company and Better Realty Company, Missouri History Museum, P0403-03547-01-8n

There are more four-families that surely filled in large lots that were parceled off, and then there are some more Italianate style country houses, as you can see below.

Houses sit high up on their lots, reminding us that the terrain was rugged and the streets were graded down to their current levels.

There is more in-fill from the mid-Twentieth Century.

But then we spot this house below, which dates back to when this was a rural outpost known as Benton. There were apparently large groves of oak trees that shaded the houses that were scattered throughout the area.
